B A B I N G T O N H O U S E { Frome }

Babington House is part of the Soho House group + no matter how many times we’ve tried to join Soho House they have not let us in haha! It is not essential to be a SH member to book a room but it is cheaper.  If you can afford to splash out + want to treat yourself, this is a gorgeous spot. Another benefit is that since Soho Farmhouse opened Babington is a just that bit quieter.T + I went in late October, we’d had a busy few months working + actually hadn’t spent that much quality time together so it was nice to chill out + just hang out again. It was also our first little holiday with Monty, our first trip as a three in two years.Babington House is a grade II listed house that was purchased by Soho House in 1999 + has been the venue for many celebrity weddings ever since. Aside from a gorgeous wedding venue it makes a really peaceful weekend / mid week break. There are rooms in the main house, rooms in the coach houses + near the Cowshed spa. The coach houses tend to me more family friendly + some of the rooms allow dogs to stay. Last time we stayed in the honeymoon suite { the playroom } which is shiny + fancy but I must say I  enjoyed the coach house just as much.Things To Do – Country WalksBabington is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and it would have been a shame not to explore it. IF you haven’t come prepared do not fear; the house has a stash of wellies + brollies for you to borrow if the weather looks a bit over cast. The concierge recommended a few walks including my favourite, a walk across fields to Mells, a stunning village mentioned in the Doomsday book.FromeI love Frome especially Catherine Hill. Catherine Hill is a steep cobbled street packed with independent shops, florists + cafes with names that wouldn’t look out-of-place in Hackney ; Bramble + Wild, Assembly, Sisters Guild + Herbs On The Hill.Kilver Court

I’ve really tried to cut back on my shopping in the last year but this is one of my favourite outlets. They  have great labels { Chinti+Parker, Neom, MIH to name a few} + the shops are curated perfectly. Stop for a coffee + lunch in Sharpham Pantry or Harlequin Cafe. The Mulberry outlet store is 50 metres up the road but be warned it’s full of more trend pieces + clothes and not the classic tan leather products Mulberry is known for.

CowshedThe original Cowshed shed; indulge in a treat whilst looking out on the colourful + aromatic walled garden. If money were no object + I could control the weather I think I’d throw the biggest outdoor party in this garden. We’ve tried the couples mud therapy + bath treatment in the past but in all honestly I prefer separate treatments. Last time I enjoyed a facial + manicure because I’m too ticklish for a massage. To save money I book a treatment for the shortest session time + then make the most of the spa showers + complimentary tea after.

Visit Bath

It’ll take you about half an hour to get to Bath from Babington.

Where To Eat –

The Talbot Inn

We walked here across the field on a Sunday + the queue for the Sunday roast was out the door. We stopped in for a well deserved pint of cider but I wished I’d stayed to eat. Unfortunately we had to leave to get back to London but all the reviews are 5 star. It is also worth noting that The Talbot Inn does gorgeous looking rooms too so it might be more cost effect to spend one night here + one night in Babington.

Castello

This place is not glamorous – it was a recommendation  + I’m not going to lie I’d imagined it was a small Italian tucked away down a cobbled street but it wasn’t. However it is the best restaurant in Frome according to Trip Advisor – the pizza was tasty + staff were friendly so what more can you ask for?

Pizza Folk

I think this was actually the pizza recommendation. Located about ten minutes walk from Catherine Hill – the pizzas definitely looks worth it.

Sam’s Kitchen Deli

Again we didn’t actually try eating in this place as we visited a week before Sam’s Kitchen opened but it looked great + the reviews seem good so it might be worth giving it ago.

Babington House

Like all Soho House ventures the food is flippin’ great sometimes we ate in the main restaurant + sometimes we ate at the bar + watch F1. On a previous visit we ordered room service, I had a burger + a cup of tea in my dressing gown + it was perfection. Afternoon tea is complimentary, fill your face with cakes + then swim it off in the outdoor pool.

P.S one tip – make sure you book your Cowshed treatments as soon as you can, they get booked up!
